The NHL hockey!

I believe that this is what we expected.Today USA Hockey announced its’ Evaluation Camp roster for the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championships in Russia come December. 46 players, 4 goalies, 17 defensemen and 25 forwards have been invited to the camp in Lake Placid, NY in August. Of the 46, three are graduating Penticton Vees in Mike Reilly, Steve Fogarty and Mario Lucia.

Like hockey children will focus on these things.Reilly and Lucia have suited up for the red, white & blue in November, as they helped team USA to a bronze medal at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in Langley. Lucia also split 21 games between the US National U18 Team and the USNTDP Junior team two seasons ago. Steven Fogarty hasn’t had any prior international experience with the US program but his strong play throughout the year made him a can’t miss choice for the camp roster.

We are all in the know. This by no means the three are a slam dunk to make the team and represent their country on the biggest stage for their age group, but it’s no doubt a step in the right direction and puts them on the radar. Remember, they’re three of only 9 players not playing in the Continental United States to be included in the 46 man roster. No other Americans playing Junior ‘A’ hockey in Canada were named to the camp roster.
